Last November 4, 2023, a team of dedicated volunteers at the Special Olympics Fall Festival event went above and beyond to ensure the well-being of the participating athletes. In collaboration with the Lions Club International Opening Eyes project and the Special Olympics Healthy Hearing program, these compassionate individuals provided invaluable vision and hearing screenings to over a hundred athletes.

The Lions Club International Opening Eyes project aims to address the unique vision needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities. By offering comprehensive eye examinations, these screenings help identify any visual impairments that may hinder the athletes’ performance or overall quality of life. Moreover, the Special Olympics Healthy Hearing program focuses on promoting auditory health and ensuring that athletes receive necessary hearing screenings and assistance.

Thanks to the efforts of these dedicated volunteers, the participating athletes had the opportunity to receive crucial healthcare services that they may not have otherwise had access to. By providing these screenings, the volunteers played a vital role in helping the athletes reach their full potential and ensuring their overall well-being.
